International Research and Practice Conference «EURASIAN COOPERATION: HUMANITARIAN ASPECTS»































International Research and Practice Conferencetook placeat Baikal State University on14–15 September 2017.

The conference was held by Baikal State University together with Paris-Sorbonne University (France). Scientists from Mongolian Academy of Sciences and Russian University of People’s Friendship took part in the conference.

Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation O. Vasilieva sent a welcome letter to the participants of the international conference at BSU. It is mentioned in the minister’s message that more than four hundred agreements have been concluded between Russia and France. This is a bright example of friendship and a good platform for further consolidation of bilateral research and educational relationship.

The minister expressed confidence that the international conference in Irkutsk will provide a new direction of Russian-French humanitarian cooperation, it will contribute significantly to conservation of the unique Baikal nature, and wished efficient work, interesting discussions and unforgettable experience of seeing Baikal to the participants of the conference!

First Deputy of the Irkutsk Region Governor V. Dorofeev welcomed the participants of the conference on behalf of the Irkutsk Region Governor and Government.

In his speech to the participants of the conference, Rector of Baikal State University Professor A. Sukhodolov highlighted the importance of holding similar events for the academic community of the Baikal Region, which has been actively cooperating with scientists from Europe and Asia for many years.

Deputy Vice-President for International Activities of University Paris-Sorbonne Jean-Cassien Billier delivered a welcoming speech to scientists from Russia, France and Mongolia.

The conference was divided into sections including plenary talks and discussion. Within the roundtable discussion, the participants of the conference spoke about implementation plans of scientific collaboration projects.

On the first day of the international conference, scientists from three countries discussed mass communication, journalism and Mass Media theory at one of the break-out sessions. Director of Higher School of Information Science and Communication Professor Karine Berthelot-Guiet, professors of Higher School of Information Science and Communication Denis Ruellan and Adeline Wrona, Associate Professor of Higher School of Information Science and Communication Juliette Charbonneau and Rector of Baikal State University Professor A. Sukhodolov presented their reports on this subject.

The main reporters in the seсtions “European liberalism and traditions of the East: historical understanding and modern aspects” and “Baikal natural area: unique tourist territory from the natural area with cultural heritage to ethno-tourism” were former Vice-President for International Activities of the University Paris-Sorbonne Guillaume-Alonso Araceli, Director of Geography and Land Survey Department of University Paris-Sorbonne Edith Fagnoni, Head of Political Economy Chair of Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia Professor E. Ponomarenko, Head of Finance and Credit Department of People’s Friendship University of Russia Professor A. Bystryakov, Director of Natural Resources Management and Biodiversity Conservation Institute of Baikal State University V. Popov, Head of Tourism and Hospitality Department of Baikal State University E. Rzhepka, Director of the Centre of Mongolian Studies, Professor of Baikal State University Yu. Kuzmin and others.

The conference was concluded with reports and discussion on the topic “Global transport channels Europe-Asia: advantages and risks”. Director of International Relations Institute of Mongolian Academy of Sciences Zh. Bayasakh, Head of Department of International Cooperation of International Relations Institute of Mongolian Academy of Sciences Professor A. Davaasuren, associate researcher of the Research Centre Europe-Asia of the National University of Eastern Languages and Cultures (University Sorbonne Paris Cité) David Teurtrie and others presented their reports in this section.

Following the results of the conference, Russian, French and Mongolian scientists elaborated a joint decision and a collection of research papers in Russian and French was prepared.

At the close of the conference, a letter of gratitude signed by Deputy Vice-President for International Activities of University Paris-Sorbonne Jean-Cassien Billier addressed to Rector of Baikal State University was received. Jean Cassien Billier thanked University administration and teaching staff of Baikal State University for the high level of organization and conducting the International Research and Practice Conference “Eurasian Cooperation: Humanitarian Aspects” which took place at BSU sites in September.



We’d like to remind you that within the framework of the conference, scientists from Russia, France and Mongolia considered essential issues of cooperation between the countries of Europe and Asia in historical, ecological, social and economic aspects and also discussed modern realia of mass communication, journalism and Mass Media theory in terms of history and traditions.
